Free PrimeTime Wellness Fair set for March 10 at Blaisdell Center - Event for People 50+ Includes Medical Presentations, Free Health Screenings

(Honolulu, Hawaii, February 12, 2004) – Medical and diet advice and free health testing will highlight the 10th Annual PrimeTime Wellness Fair, an event for those 50 and older at the Neal Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall on Wednesday, March 10. The free-admission fair, which will run from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., features:

  • Guest speakers Dr. Terry Shintani, creator of the “Hawaii Diet” and director of preventive medicine at Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center; Dr. Kentaro Nishino, a geriatric medicine expert from Kuakini Medical Center and the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii; and Dr. Kristine Nishimura, an HMSA clinical pharmacist.
  • An opportunity to meet Angela Baraquio, Miss America 2001.
  • Free health screenings for glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, hearing, breast cancer risk, body fat and bone density.
  • Cooking and pottery demonstrations, bingo and door prizes. The grand prize will be a Neighbor Island getaway for two including air travel, car rental and hotel accommodations, courtesy of Creative Holidays and Avis Rent A Car.

First Hawaiian Bank, HMSA, Kuakini Health System and the Honolulu City Department of Parks and Recreation sponsor the health fair.
