HALE KIPA RECEIVES $50,000 GRANT
FROM FIRST HAWAIIAN BANK FOUNDATION

(Honolulu, Hawaii, June 17, 2008) -Hale Kipa has been given a grant of $50,000 by The First Hawaiian Bank Foundation, the charitable arm of First Hawaiian Bank, according to an announcement by Don Horner, First Hawaiian Bank's president and chief executive officer. The grant will assist Hale Kipa with the construction of the Hale Kipa Services Complex in Ewa Beach.

The Hale Kipa Services Complex will consist of the Hale Kipa Services Center, a multi-purpose education/administration building and up to six residential shelters. This construction is vital to the agency's efforts in effectively meeting its clientele needs. It is expected that this repositioning of facilities and programs to a location that is closer to key service areas in west and central Oahu will be more cost effective and will provide easier access for clients and staff.

Hale Kipa provides opportunities and environments that strengthen and encourage youth, their families and communities to actualize their potential and social responsibility. For over 3 decades, Hale Kipa has been "the House of Friendliness" to thousands of Hawaii's runaways and homeless youth who have needed a place to stay and someone to talk to while they work out their problems. During this time, Hale Kipa has provided shelter and other services to more than 30,000 youth. For more information visit www.halekipa.org.
