FROM FIRST HAWAIIAN BANK FOUNDATION
(Honolulu, Hawaii, July 16, 2008) - Maui Food Bank has been given a grant of $5,000 by The First Hawaiian Bank Foundation, the charitable arm of First Hawaiian Bank, according to an announcement by Don Horner, First Hawaiian Bank's president and chief executive officer. The grant will assist the Maui Food Bank's Kid's Café program to provide healthy meals to low income families.
The Kids Café program was created to help prevent hunger in neighborhoods where children are living at the poverty level. There are over 5,000 children living in Maui County who do not know where their next meal is coming from. Each month the Food Bank serves 7,000 people who are in need of food. This year alone they will distribute over 1 million pounds of food to the hungry. Maui Food Bank was established in 1994 with their ultimate goal to end hunger on Maui.
