THE SALVATION ARMY ON SAIPAN
RECEIVES $10,000
FROM FIRST HAWAIIAN BANK
(Capital Hill, Saipan, September 5, 2007) - The Salvation Army in Saipan has been given a $10,000 grant by the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation, the charitable arm of First Hawaiian Bank, according to an announcement today by Don Horner, president and chief executive officer. The funds have been used to purchase a 15-passenger van for use in Salvation Army programs on the island of Saipan.
The $10,000 donation was presented to Saipan Outpost Ministry Leaders Wayne and Annie Gillespie, by First Hawaiian Bank Saipan Area Manager Juan Lizama.
“The Salvation Army on Saipan has already begun making a difference in our community with its children's after school and at-risk teens programs,” said Lizama. “They provide an essential lifeline for those who need it and we are pleased to be supporting them in their efforts to expand their program initiatives.”
“We are thrilled to accept this generous donation from First Hawaiian Bank. The van will enable The Salvation Army to provide much-needed services and programs, allowing us to assist those in need all around the island,” says Gillespie. “We'd like to thank First Hawaiian Bank and its employees for their generosity and genuine care for the community. The Salvation Army may be well-known for helping others, but we could not do so without the generous partners such as First Hawaiian Bank.”
