FIRST HAWAIIAN BANK TO SPONSOR STATE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

(Honolulu, Hawaii, November 3, 2005) – First Hawaiian Bank will again be the title sponsor for Hawaii’s high school state football championships, which will continue for the third year with competition in two divisions. The playoff games will be known as the "First Hawaiian Bank/ HHSAA State Football Championships."

"It’s a pleasure to support activities that promote healthy outlets for our young people and teach them sportsmanship at the same time. The two-division format provides additional opportunities for schools of all sizes to participate. We’re delighted to continue as title sponsor," said First Hawaiian Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Don Horner. The bank’s sponsorship includes both cash and in-kind support to help defray the expenses of the ambitious tournament format being kicked off this year.

In the First Hawaiian Bank State Football Championships, six larger schools will compete for the Division I title while six smaller schools from all leagues will have a chance to earn a Division II state crown. Approximately 1,000 football players will participate in 10 games statewide over a three-week series of playoffs in November and December. The two championship games will be played December 3 at Aloha Stadium.

"We were delighted with the success of the two-division format and I’m so pleased that First Hawaiian Bank agrees, and has stepped up to the plate again. Their financial support helps make this dream come true for more and more schools and athletes," said Keith Amemiya, Executive Director of the Hawaii High School Athletic Association.

First Hawaiian also sponsors the Hawaii High School Athletic Association Canoe Paddling championships each year.

First Hawaiian Bank ($11 billion assets) was founded in 1858 and is Hawaii’s oldest bank. It has 56 branches in Hawaii, three on Guam and two on Saipan.
