Cornejo, Farias, Kalama Promoted to Executive Vice President of First Hawaiian Bank

(Honolulu, Hawaii, December 17, 2003) – First Hawaiian Bank today promoted three long-time executives to Executive Vice President.  Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Walter A. Dods, Jr. announced the promotions of:

  • Linda Cornejo, deputy manager of the Retail Loan Administration Division.
  • Brandt Farias, head of the Marketing and Product Management Division.
  • Corbett Kalama, regional supervisor of the bank’s branches on Oahu.

Cornejo holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Hawaii and is also a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle, Washington.  She joined First Hawaiian in 1972 as a management trainee.  Over the years, her positions have included assistant manager of the Main Branch and Kahala Branch manager.  She has worked in retail loan administration since 1992 and was named a Senior Vice President in 1994.

She is on the Board for HEDCO Local Development Corporation.

Farias was born in Honolulu and is a graduate of Punahou School, the University of Hawaii, the BMA School of Bank Marketing and the Stanford Executive Management School. He joined First Hawaiian in 1985 as manager of public relations and is currently in charge of advertising, direct mail and special events as well as product management for several areas of the bank.

Farias is Trustee and Chairman of Catholic Charities Hawaii and is active in the Hawaii Foodbank.

Kalama, who was born in Honolulu, is a graduate of Kailua High School,  Western Oregon College and is both a graduate and faculty member of Pacific Coast Banking School.  He joined First Hawaiian in 1982 and, since 1995, has managed the bank’s 32 branches on Oahu.

Kalama is on the boards of several local organizations including the Samoan Service Providers Association, Pacific & Asian Affairs Council, Hawaii Nature Center, Friends of Hawaii Charities, John A. Burns School of Medicine Imi Ho‘ola Advisory Board, UH-Hilo Small Business Advisory Board, Polynesian Voyaging Society, Pacific Islanders in Communication, Le Jardin Academy and Hawaii Institute for Public Affairs.  He also serves on the Government Relations Committee of the American Bankers Association.
