ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT PROMOTIONS AND NEW HIRES
FOR BISHOP STREET CAPITAL MANAGEMENT
(Honolulu, Hawaii, December 24, 2007) - First Hawaiian Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Don Horner today announced the following promotions and new hires for Bishop Street Capital Management (BSCM), the investment subsidiary of First Hawaiian Bank:
Michael K. Hirai, BSCM president has been named a director of BSCM. He continues to serve as director of fixed income. Before joining the bank, the 24-year veteran of managing both fixed income and equity strategies, was chairman of CIC/HCM Asset Management, Inc., where he served as director of fixed income and chief fixed income strategist. He is a graduate of Hilo High School and has a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Hawaii and an MBA from the University of Southern California. He is president and director of CFA Hawaii and recently served as a member of the state Council of Revenues.
Ken Miller, senior vice president and director of equity, has been appointed chief investment officer. He replaces Hirai who has been named director of BSCM. Before joining First Hawaiian Bank in 2002, Miller was with JP Morgan, where he was twice named a Wall Street Journal all-star analyst. He holds medical degrees from Flinders University, Adelaide Australia and has an MBA from Cornell University.
Jennifer Carias has been promoted from vice president to senior vice president. Carias has over 20 years of banking and management experience. She began her career at First Hawaiian Bank as a teller and has since held various positions in the bank's Audit and Trust Divisions. She joined BSCM in 2002. She is a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy and has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Chaminade University.
Terrence Flynn has joined BSCM as senior vice president and portfolio management. Prior to joining First Hawaiian, Flynn was previously director of business development and client services at Seattle-Northwest Asset Management and served as senior fixed income portfolio manager for the holding company of California Bank and Trust. He also served as chief financial officer and executive director of the UCLA Foundation at the University of California at Los Angeles. In his new position, he will be responsible for BSCM's taxable and tax-exempt fixed income investments. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles and completed graduate studies in international investment portfolio management at the London Business School in London England.
Stephanie Chun has joined First Hawaiian Bank as vice president and portfolio manager. Chun has over six years of fixed income investment and portfolio management experience. She previously was vice president and fixed income portfolio manager with Oakwood Capital Management, LLC in Los Angeles. She is a graduate of Punahou School and has a bachelor's degree in economics and business management from the University of California, Irvine.
