Contactless Payment Feature
MasterCard PayPass is a contactless payment feature that lets you make Tap & GoTM payments. No signature is required for purchases equivalent to $25 and less. To pay, you simply tap your First Hawaiian Bank PayPass Debit Card on the terminal or the reader at checkout instead of swiping your card or handing it to the cashier.
- How to Use PayPass:
- Look for the MasterCard PayPass logo and special terminal at your favorite local merchants.
- Tap your First Hawaiian Bank MasterCard PayPass Debit Card at the provided terminal for purchases under $25.
- Your card still has a magnetic stripe for use where PayPass is not yet available.

- MasterCard PayPass uses an embedded chip and radio frequency antenna.
- After you tap your card at a PayPass enabled terminal or reader, it transmits payment details wirelessly, eliminating the need for you to hand your card to a cashier or swipe it through a reader.
- Account details are communicated to the terminal and are then processed in the normal manner.
- Moments after you tap the terminal, your payment is confirmed and you’re on your way.
