First Hawaiian Bank Announces Six Promotions
Honolulu, 4/22/2026 - First Hawaiian Bank Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Harrison announced the advancement of six individuals.
Dean Uyeda, Executive Vice President and Manager, Commercial Banking Division. First Hawaiian Bank has promoted Dean Uyeda to executive vice president and manager of the Commercial Banking Division. He is responsible for working with the bank’s team of commercial bankers serving business customers in Hawaii and Guam to provide loans to fund operating and investment needs, and offer products and services to save time and money. Uyeda has 25 years of banking experience in consumer, commercial and mortgage lending, serving in both sales and risk management roles. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He currently serves on the board of Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, the Institute for Human Services, and the Oahu Economic Development Board. Raised in Honolulu, Uyeda currently resides in Hawaii Kai.
Gregory Hackler, Senior Vice President and Region Leader Associate, Private Banking Division. Gregory Hackler has been promoted to senior vice president and region leader associate of the Private Banking Division. He is responsible for forming trusted relationships with FHB’s high net worth clients to develop personalized solutions to meet their banking, financing, and investing needs, and working closely with fellow Private Bankers to develop lending skills and foster relationship building skills. He has 16 years in banking spread between private banking, wealth management, commercial banking, and retail banking. Hackler is a graduate of Iolani School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is active in the First Hawaiian Bank Community Care program and has served on the board of Residential Youth Services and Empowerment as Vice President for the past three years. He also serves as an At-Large Executive Committee Member and Trustee of the Historic Hawaii Foundation. Hackler currently resides in Nuuanu.
Kurt M. Murata, Senior Vice President and Regional Manager, Commercial Banking Division, Kapiolani Banking Region. Kurt M. Murata has been promoted to senior vice president and regional manager of First Hawaiian Bank’s Commercial Banking Division, Kapiolani Banking Region. He is responsible for overseeing the Kapiolani and Big Island regions while continuing to manage commercial banking relationships by delivering financial solutions that help customers achieve their business goals. He has 22 years of banking experience. A graduate of Roosevelt High School, Murata earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He serves on the board of Kakaako Improvement Association and YMCA of Honolulu, and currently resides in Kaneohe.
Ryan K.K. Ono, Vice President and Private Banking Client Experience and Service Manager, Private Banking Division. Ryan K.K. Ono has been promoted to vice president and private banking client experience and service manager of First Hawaiian Bank’s Private Banking Division. He is responsible for ensuring that the Private Banking Division’s operations are effective, efficient, and adhere to bank policies and procedures, and federal and state regulations. He is also responsible for ensuring FHB’s Private Banking Service Consultants offer service excellence to the bank’s high net worth customer segment. He has 16 years of banking experience. Ono earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Santa Clara University and his MBA from Chaminade University, and is a member of Iolani School Io Society. He currently resides in McCully.
John P. Xenakis, Vice President and Personal Trust Wealth Advisor, Investment Services Department. First Hawaiian Bank has promoted John P. Xenakis to vice president and personal trust wealth advisor of First Hawaiian Bank’s Investment Services Department. In addition to the trust accounts he manages, Xenakis has taken on all the investment officer duties for the Retire EZ 401(k) business of the bank. He has 30 years of investment services experience. Xenakis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and English and a Master of Arts in Statistics from Rutgers University. He currently resides in Kailua.
Gwynn Nakamura, Vice President, Makiki Banking Center Manager. Gwynn Nakamura has been promoted to vice president and manager of First Hawaiian Bank’s Makiki Banking Center. She is responsible for managing and leading the talented team at the Makiki Banking Center. She has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Nakamura earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Northern Arizona University and currently resides in Hawaii Kai.
