FIRST HAWAIIAN BANK ANNOUNCES FOUR PROMOTIONS
Honolulu, August 11, 2025 - First Hawaiian Bank Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Harrison announced the advancement of four individuals.
Shyla C. Fukushima, Senior Vice President and Division Manager, Consumer Products Division. Shyla C. Fukushima has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Division Manager of First Hawaii Bank’s Consumer Products Division. She is responsible for the bank’s consumer products including deposits, credit and debit cards, consumer lending and home equity lines of credit. Fukushima has 14 years of banking experience and 18 years of legal experience. A Kamehameha Schools graduate, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Puget Sound, her Juris Doctor from the University of Hawaii’s William S. Richardson School of Law and completed the executive leadership program at the Pacific Coast Banking School in 2019. She is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association, American Bankers Association, and is ASQ Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified. Fukushima recently joined the Board of AccesSurf Hawaii and previously served on the board of the Hawaii Filipino Lawyers Association and the William S. Richardson School of Law Alumni Association. She currently resides in Pearl City.
Jeffrey M. Murata, Vice President and Team Leader, Commercial Banking Group. Jeffrey M. Murata has been promoted to vice president and team leader of First Hawaiian Bank’s Commercial Banking Group. He is responsible for leading the Commercial Banking team on Kauai to maintain and generate new commercial loans and grow the division’s relationships and portfolio. Murata has nearly three decades of banking experience. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and graduated from the Pacific Coast Banking School in 2009. He currently serves as the secretary of the Kauai Independent Food Bank and is a member of Kauai Lions. He is a resident of Kapaa, Kauai.
Kai D. Steuer, Vice President, Commercial Banking Group. Kai D. Steuer has been promoted to vice president of First Hawaiian Bank’s Commercial Banking Group. He is responsible for accessing the financial needs of businesses to provide tailored advice, customized proposals and business loans, as well as lead sales initiatives and projects to meet performance goals. He has nine years of commercial banking and real estate experience. Steuer earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from James Madison University. He currently serves as the vice chair and executive committee member of the Hawaii Leeward Planning Conference and serves on the Economic Development Committee of the Kona Kohala Chamber of Commerce. He also serves as the treasurer of Hawaii Island United Way and Donkey Mill Art Center. A native of Dover, NJ, Steuer currently resides in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii Island.
Bonnie L. McCaffery, Vice President and Branch Manager, Waipahu Banking Center. Bonnie L. McCaffery has been promoted to vice president and branch manager of First Hawaiian Bank’s Waipahu Banking Center. She is responsible for managing the Waipahu Banking Center which includes 15 employees. McCaffery has 45 years of banking experience which includes commercial loans. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Delaware. A native of Pennsylvania, McCaffery currently resides in Mililani.
