First Hawaiian Bank Announces Four Promotions and One New Hire

Honolulu, January 9, 2024 - First Hawaiian Bank Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Harrison announced the advancement of four individuals and one new hire.

Martha E. Morgan, Senior Vice President & Team Leader, Personal Trust Division. Martha E. Morgan has been promoted to senior vice president and team leader of First Hawaiian Bank’s Personal Trust Division. She is responsible for accountability and income generation, staff development, and trust administration. Morgan has more than 25 years of banking experience with an expertise in trust administration, and joined First Hawaii Bank in 2004. She is a graduate of Punahou School and University of Rochester, and earned her MBA in Finance from Boston University. She is a member of the Certified Trust and Financial Advisors and Hawaii Estate Planning Counsel. She currently resides in Makiki.

Shirley Durham, Senior Vice President & Division Manager, Enterprise Operation Services Division. Shirley Durham has been promoted to senior vice president & division manager of First Hawaiian Bank’s Enterprise Operation Services Division. She is tasked with overseeing 16 operational departments and developing and executing EOS vision, mission, values, and overall strategic initiatives for the division. Durham has 34 years of banking experience and joined First Hawaiian Bank in 1989. She is a member of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce and is a volunteer at St. Ann Church. Born in the Philippines, Durham currently resides in Kaneohe.

Joely A. A. Chung, Vice President & Manager, Enterprise Operational Risk Division. Joely A.A. Chung has been promoted to vice president and manager of the bank’s Enterprise Operational Risk Division. She is responsible for overseeing operational risk management, fraud management, and collections and recovery. Chung also is tasked with leading, planning, developing, implementing, and enhancing activities, programs and framework associated with mitigating risk at the enterprise level. Prior to joining First Hawaiian Bank in 2014, Chung served as an associate attorney at Chee Markham & Feldman, and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney at the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney for the City and County of Honolulu. Chung is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii Pacific University, and California Western School of Law. She has been a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association since 2001 and is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and Certified AML and Fraud Professional (CAFP). Raised in Honolulu, Chung currently resides in Mililani.

Victor A. Tom, Jr., Branch Manager, Kamuela, Hawaii Island Branch. Victor A. Tom, Jr. has been promoted to branch manager of First Hawaiian Bank’s Kamuela Branch on Hawaii Island. Tom provides leadership by overseeing sales and service activities, marketing plans, operating budget, and the overall profitability and operational integrating of the Kamuela branch. Tom has 23 years of banking experience and joined First Hawaiian Bank in 2006. He currently serves as the treasurer of the Waimea Community Association. Raised in Honolulu, Tom currently resides in Kamuela, Hawaii Island.

Rachel A. Mikulec, Senior Vice President and Manager, Change Management Division. Rachel A. Mikulec has joined First Hawaiian Bank as senior vice president and manager of the bank’s Change Management Division. She is responsible for ensuring a high level of engagement from stakeholders to create business-led solutions that promote adoption. Rachel brings more than 15 years of change management leadership across multiple industries. She was born in Detroit, Michigan and lived in the Seattle area for 25 years before moving to Downtown, Honolulu. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University.
