FIRST HAWAIIAN BANK WILL WAIVE FEES FOR NON-CUSTOMERS CASHING STIMULUS CHECKS

FHB offers this service to FHB customers and non-customers alike

HONOLULU, March 19, 2021 -- First Hawaiian Bank (FHB) today announced it will cash any stimulus check with no fees assessed, whether the bearer is an FHB customer or not. The federal government has stated that it began mailing paper checks this week to qualifying U.S. citizens as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

Many within our local community do not have banking relationships that enable them to quickly and inexpensively cash these checks, and these people often are the most financially vulnerable and more likely to be affected by job losses. FHB’s goal is to help get this money into people’s hands quickly and easily.

“With this third round of stimulus funding, First Hawaiian is assisting the community by once again waiving fees to cash a stimulus check for both non-customers and customers,” said Bob Harrison, First Hawaiian Bank Chairman, President and CEO. “We want to make it easy for people impacted by the pandemic to quickly access this money so they can pay rent or buy groceries for their families.”

Individuals who receive a stimulus check can cash it at any First Hawaiian Bank Branch during regular business hours. FHB Customers may also deposit their check using an FHB ATM and deposit remotely through FHB Mobile.
