FHB Foundation donates $20,000 to YMCA Mililani West Oahu
The pandemic created financial hardships for families already struggling and it left many Kupuna isolated which affected their well-being. YMCA has been a valuable community resource throughout the pandemic offering healthy activities including physical fitness, social activities, swimming, pre-school and after school care in a safe environment. As part of the bank’s new Mililani Branch opening, the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation donated $20,000 to the YMCA Mililani West Oahu to provide access to services for keiki and kupuna in the community. First Hawaiian Bank’s $20,000 gift will fund access to these YMCA programs for:

  • YMCA’s Safety Around Water program for Title 1 students from Kipapa Elementary;
  • Intersession Day Camp Scholarships for students with financial need; and
  • 6-months of free fitness memberships to YMCA Mililani West Oahu for 25 Kupuna.

“The YMCA of Honolulu is so grateful to First Hawaiian Bank for its support of access to health and wellness programs for keiki to kupuna at our Mililani YMCA,” said Greg Waibel, President and CEO. “We are so encouraged to have a partner like FHB who wants to help our community with the needs that are especially relevant right now.  Our keiki have experienced more time indoors on computers and away from their peers, and your support of intersession programs and water safety are so appropriate. Our kupuna have been isolated in their homes and providing access to health and wellness programming is absolutely needed. This support couldn’t come at a better time for our Mililani ohana.”

 The Mililani YMCA serves Mililani Town, Mililani Mauka, Wahiawa and Waipio communities. To learn more about YMCA Mililani West Oahu, visit https://www.ymcahonolulu.org/locations/mililani
