The opening of the Waiakea Branch in November 2014 at the Prince Kuhio Mall in Hilo brought new Video Teller Technology, No-Envelope Deposit ATMs and a Biometric Self-Service Entry System. Since then, biometric systems have also been installed in the safe deposit box vaults at our Kapolei and Kahana branches.
At Waiakea, Video Teller machines allow customers to speak with an off-site First Hawaiian Bank teller through live video conferencing during extended banking hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. If you choose to use the Video Teller, you will not be talking to a lifeless robot. On the other side of that screen is a real person who is locally based and capable of providing assistance with the same personalized service you’re used to. With the Video Teller, you can cash checks to the exact amount (including coins down to the penny), withdraw cash from your savings or checking account in a variety of denominations (i.e. $1, $5, $20, and $100), and even make loan, credit card or mortgage payments.
The No-Envelope Deposit ATM is another technological enhancement offered at the Waiakea Branch. How do you make a deposit into an ATM without an envelope? The No-Envelope Deposit ATM will scan and create an image of checks being deposited, which can then be printed on the ATM receipt for your records, along with an accounting for any cash you deposit. With the No-Envelope Deposit ATM, you can also withdraw cash from your savings or checking accounts, request a credit card cash advance and print out mini-statements.
The Biometric Self-Service Entry System allows safe deposit box customers to gain entry into the safe deposit area just by scanning their hand. This biometric system allows customers the convenience of accessing the safe deposit box area quickly, privately, securely, and hassle-free.
Even with the latest technology readily available, bank staff are still available to assist customers who would like the option of having personalized service in the Waiakea Branch. Customers who prefer the convenience and speed of using self-service technology can take advantage of these new innovations at Waiakea in addition to online banking and mobile deposit services, while those who prefer to speak face-to-face with a customer service rep can also be helped. No matter your preference, you remain in control of your banking experience.
Waiakea Branch is located at the Prince Kuhio Mall in Hilo, Hawaii. Branch hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4:00pm & Friday 8:30am-6:00pm. Video Tellers are available Monday-Friday 7:00am-6:00pm and No-Envelope Deposit ATMs are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
